When you register: your email address, a username, and your password stored as a hash. We never store your password itself.
If you fill them in: display name, bio, avatar, banner and profile links.
As you use MAKI:
To run the platform, generate the replies and media you ask for, calculate node rewards and credits, send transactional email, and prevent abuse. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
We share only what a service needs to do its job, and only with these categories:
We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
When you run the MAKI node we collect hardware information (CPU, RAM, GPU) to assign your tier and calculate your contribution.
Conversations processed through your node are used to improve MAKI's AI only if you have turned learning on. It is off unless you choose it, you can turn it off again at any time, and where it is used it is not linked to your identity in training pipelines.
On servers in Finland, operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, inside the European Union. Data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS and passwords are hashed.
The third parties in section 3 operate their own infrastructure, some of it outside the EU. Using a model hosted outside the EU means your prompt is transmitted there to be answered.
We keep your data while your account exists.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, and it happens immediately — not on a queue. In the app: Settings → Delete account. On the web: makiai.app/delete-account.html. Both require your password.
Deletion permanently removes your account, profile, chats, uploads, submissions, node registration, connected wallet, any stored API keys, and any remaining credit balance, which is forfeited.
One exception: records of payments and credit transactions are retained for accounting, tax and chargeback obligations. After deletion those records are no longer linked to your name, email or username — what remains is that a transaction occurred, not who made it.
To be specific about the part that matters most: if you connected a crypto wallet, the wallet address is not kept. It is erased from those retained records at deletion, along with any other address held against them. A wallet address is a permanent public identifier that cannot be revoked once it exists, so keeping one would undo the deletion you asked for. The amounts remain; the address does not.
On the web, one session cookie (maki_token) keeps you signed in. In the app the
equivalent token is held in the device's secure storage. There are no advertising or tracking
cookies.
You can access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Deletion is self-service and immediate (section 6). For anything else, email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
MAKI is not intended for children. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects how your data is used, tell you in the app.
